Year 3/4 – Welcome to Terms 3&4
Dear Parents/Carers,
It has been an absolute pleasure welcoming your child/ren back to school after the Christmas holidays; they have all settled back into their classes, which is fantastic.
Learning
We have begun this term with a new enquiry question, “Where is our place in Europe?”. We will be geographers and develop our knowledge of our place in Europe and the wider world. This will include looking at a range of maps, photographs and data, which we will use to make comparisons, as well as embedding knowledge about physical and human features.
To celebrate this learning, we will be inviting you (parents/carers) into classes, where children will be able to discuss and share their books with you. This will take place on Monday 30th March at 2:40pm.
As scientists, we will be learning about the skeleton and the various bodily muscles.
Homework
We continue to use the online platform Sumdog for our homework, in maths. Log in details can be found in your child’s reading diaries. Please remind your child not to share their username and password with others.
Home/School Diaries
These are used to monitor reading and we would ask you to encourage your child/ren to read at home – with you – at least three times per week. Please can this be recorded in their diaries so we can track the reading they are doing at home as well as in school. We celebrate our reading successes in school too, and we would love all children to be part of this.
You can also use the diary to communicate with us. Please remind your child to let the teaching staff know if there is a note in their diary so we can ensure that it is checked, and we can respond to it. We can also be contacted using our year 3/4 email:
Swimming and Forest school
It is Chandra class’s turn to go swimming in term 4, beginning on Monday 2nd March (for 4 sessions.) Please be advised that this could change due to over-running building works at Sedgemoor Splash, where we undertake our sessions. These dates will be confirmed nearer the time.
Sputnik class are continuing their forest school experience and Voyager class will begin theirs towards the end of term 4 (March) or beginning of term 5 (April).
With thanks for your continued support,
The Year 3/4 Team.
