Weston Carnival Support
Dear Parents and Carers,
We are delighted to share that the Weston Carnival is fast approaching, a treasured and vibrant event that has been bringing excitement, colour, and a true sense of community spirit to Weston-Super-Mare since 1970.
As many of you will be aware, the carnival is more than just an entertaining spectacle. It’s a celebration of local creativity, togetherness, and pride, something that thousands of families, including many of our own pupils, look forward to every year. It’s an opportunity for children and adults alike to come together and enjoy the magic of music, lights, and performance in the heart of our town.
However, like many long-standing community events, Weston Carnival has faced growing challenges in recent years due to the pressures of the ongoing cost of living crisis. It is run entirely by volunteers and relies solely on donations and fundraising to continue. Without the generous support of the local community, the future of the carnival is at real risk. Last year, an incredible 50,000 people attended the event, many of these families were primary aged children from schools across Weston.
This year, to help support the running costs of the carnival, families are kindly being invited to make a voluntary donation in exchange for a carnival brochure. The Carnival brochures not only help raise essential funds but also offer a great way to follow the procession and learn more about the participants.
On Friday 7th November, we will be supporting the Carnival by having donation buckets at both school gates/entrances and we would be incredibly grateful for any contributions you feel able to make.
Even small donations such as 50p or £1, will collectively go a long way. If every family gave a little, we could raise hundreds of pounds to support an event that brings joy to so many.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support, kindness, and community spirit.
Together, we can help ensure that Weston Carnival remains a highlight of our town for generations to come.
Warmest regards,
Mrs S Hodder
Principal
