Y6 Charterhouse Residential 17-21 May 2021 (selected pupils)
Dear Parents/Carers,
Following the Government announcement of the roadmap to cautiously ease lockdown restrictions in England we have been in discussions with Kilve Court, the operator of Charterhouse, and they have confirmed that our Charterhouse Residential will go ahead, subject to the government confirming the next stage of the roadmap due to take place on 17th May 2021.
Planning is now well underway to ensure we are ready to go on Monday 17th May. Final confirmation on the easing of restrictions is not expected until the week before we are due to travel. Only in the event that the government do not allow the lifting of restrictions will the trip be cancelled.
We are thrilled that we are in the position to be able to take the children on this exceptional trip. When asked for their memories of their time at primary school, Charterhouse is always featured highly. We believe it is a hugely enriching experience for them, especially after such a difficult year.
Charterhouse have continued operating throughout the pandemic for specialist groups of children and are fully COVID secure in their operation. Extensive risk assessments have been carried out to ensure the safety of all children and adults whilst on site and during all the activities.
The Year 6 children attending the residential trip will form a single year group ‘bubble’ for the duration of the trip and for the following week back in school, which is the last week before the half term break.
Most parents have continued to maintain their payment plan for Charterhouse and have almost paid the full cost of the trip; however there are some payments still outstanding. We have extended the payment deadline as much as possible and ask that ALL balances are paid in full by Friday 7th May 2021. Please speak to the school office team if you are experiencing financial difficulties.
Due to the very tight timescales involved we require forms to be completed by Monday 26th April 2021. Please click on the links below to complete these forms. Both forms must be completed for your child to attend the residential.

There is a kit list attached to this letter. Please do not buy new clothes or kit for the trip, most items can be obtained very cheaply from charity shops. Clothes and shoes get very muddy and dirty so ‘the older the better’. Please do not forget bedding, as this cannot be provided by Charterhouse due to the COVID restrictions.
If your child has a medical condition where medication will be required for the duration of the trip, please ensure you clearly state this on the essential information form. Please remember all medication must be prescribed and dispensed, with all the original labels in place. When we receive the information we will contact parents directly to arrange for medical forms to be completed.
Charterhouse is located in Blagdon, which is only a short 30 minute coach journey. However, if you believe your child will require travel sickness tablets please state this in the medical conditions part of the form. We will contact parents directly regarding the administering of this medication.
If any child or parent has concerns over the arrangements, please speak to the school office team or your child’s class teacher asap to discuss your concerns.
We are really looking forward to this fabulous trip, we hope you are too!
With regards
Year 5/6 Team
