Year 2 SS Great Britain Trip
Dear Parents/Carers,
We are delighted to inform you that we have organised a trip for our Year 2 children to the SS Great Britain on Tuesday 17th March 2026, which will enhance their learning on our enquiry question, “Why Were the Victorians Significant?”
The coach will leave school at approximately 9.15am and should return by the end of the school day, therefore any arrangements regarding after school clubs or breakfast club can remain unchanged.
During the day, the children will enjoy time studying the life of the Victorians; including Isambard Kingdom Brunel, the famous British engineer who designed significant landmarks in the Southwest as well as the SS Great Britain. This will provide an invaluable insight into this historical era.
Children should wear normal school uniform and will need to bring a packed lunch and drink, no fizzy drinks please. Children entitled to benefit related free school meals can request a packed lunch from the school. If you require this option, please speak to a member of the school office team by the end of this week; please note this will not be automatically ordered.
Children MUST have a warm coat as we will be walking outside throughout the day.
The cost of the trip is £17.50 per child, which covers the cost of the entry and the coach travel. Children in receipt of pupil premium funding will have the cost of this trip met by the school, however parents will still need to give permission via MCAS for them to participate in the trip.
We hope parents will understand that should we not receive sufficient funds to cover the cost of the trip, we will have to cancel. The school has no provision to subsidise trips.
Parents should visit their child’s MCAS account to give permission and make payment Deadline for permission & payment is Friday 13th March 2026.
We still require one parents/carers from Jupiter class to help on this trip, if you are available, please let the class teacher know. Pluto class has sufficient parent helpers, thank you.
We hope this will be a thoroughly enjoyable trip for the children and we are looking forward to it.
With regards
The Year 2 Team
