Year 3 & 4 Homework Expectations
Dear Parents/Carers,
Now that the Year 3 and 4 children have settled into term 1, we will shortly be setting homework for them to complete weekly.
Reading
Reading is so important to the progress children make that we expect them to be reading at home every day. Listening to children read really helps to encourage, correct and question their understanding. Reading support should be three times per week and recorded in their home/school diary.
Maths
Maths homework will be set weekly and uses online sites that the children often find engaging and easy to use. Before the first work is set, we will run through the websites we use and show the children exactly what they will be expected to do.
Login details and guidance about homework will be stuck into the front of the children’s home/school diaries.
Year 4 children
Work will be set on Sumdog which will be a task to complete relating to the learning they have recently covered in their Year 4 maths group.
At the end of Year 4, children must complete the national Times Tables Check and to support their practice for this, we ask Year 4 to complete activities on Emile.
Year 3 children
Work will be set on Sumdog which will be a task to complete relating to the learning they have recently covered in their Year 3 maths group.
If you have any questions about homework for your child, please speak to your child’s teacher at the end of the day or contact use on the Year 3/4 email
Thank you for your support
