Year 3/4 Viking Beach Raid

Dear Parents/Carers,

As part of our ‘Were the Vikings Vicious?’ topic this term, we will be visiting the local beach to re-enact a Viking Beach Raid as well as learn more about Uphill’s very own Viking connections!

The trip will take place on Wednesday 20th October 2021, the final day before half term.

This is a great opportunity for the children to learn more about what it would have been like to land on a beach in a longboat, the challenges the Vikings would have faced and to think about the actions and emotions of both the invaders as well as the Anglo-Saxons on shore awaiting their arrival.

We will be leaving school at 9:00am, on foot, and will return at 10:15am. Children should come to school in their normal school uniform but please bring a pair of wellies or old trainers as well as a waterproof coat in case of wet weather.

This is always a very popular and successful activity and we look forward to enjoying some great outside learning.

Kind Regards,

Year 3/4 Team
