Year 4 Bikeability (selected pupils)
Dear Year 4 Parents/Carers,
Thank you for requesting a place for your child to take part in Year 4 Bikeability – Level 1 training. I am pleased to confirm that your child has secured a place and therefore will need to bring their bike and a helmet into school on the following dates:
Sputnik & Chandra classes – Tuesday 3rd May
Voyager class – Wednesday 4th May.
Training will consist of a ½ day session on school premises and is FREE of charge, however to take part in the session your child must:-
- Be able to ride a bike. This is NOT a learn to ride course.
- Their bike must be safe to use and must have two working brakes. Use the ABC guide below to help.
- Have a correctly fitted helmet. The chin strap should be secure.
- Be able to bring their bike into school on the days of training.
Children should wear their uniform top, comfortable trousers/leggings, trainers or school shoes and a waterproof coat is advisable.
To be able to participate in this training, the North Somerset/Lifecycle Consent form MUST be completed. Please click on the link below which will take you to an online form which we would ask you to submit by Tuesday 26th April 2022 at the latest.

ABC Check
A – Air
Check there is enough air in the tyres. Press down all your weight on the handlebars and ensure the tyres don’t bulge.
B – Brakes
Ensure both your brakes work properly. You should hold each brake on in turn (not both together) and try to move the bike…..it shouldn’t move!
C – Chain
The chain should be oily and not rusty.
Yours sincerely
