Year 4 Residential Trip Update – IMPORTANT INFORMATION CONTAINED

Dear Parents/Carers,

As detailed in our previous letter dated 11th October 2022, we take the Year 4 children on a one night residential visit to Folly Farm in Chew Magna, which is run by Avon Wildlife Trust, from Thursday 15th June to Friday 16th June 2023.

We are delighted that so many of the Year 4 children wish to join us for this exciting trip to Folly Farm, which is an award-winning, sustainable learning centre, set in a 250-acre nature reserve in the Chew Valley. Please visit their website for further information https://www.avonwildlifetrust.org.uk/our-learning-centres

The cost of the trip is confirmed as £100 per child and this will include coach fares, insurance, accommodation, food and drink and activities. We understand this is a large amount of money and we are offering the opportunity to pay by instalments between now and May. We hope parents will understand that should we not receive sufficient funds to cover the cost of the trip, we will have to cancel. The school has no provision to subsidise trips.

We have allocated the fees to ParentPay for payment. To help spread the cost we have set an instalment plan as follows:

£40.00 due by 31st March 2023 (this is a non-refundable deposit)

£30.00 due by 30th April 2023

£30.00 due by 31st May 2023

The full amount can be paid is you wish to do so and, if preferred, payments can be made from today.

If your child is in receipt of pupil premium funding the cost of the trip will be met by the school. There will not be anything showing on your ParentPay account as permission has already been given. However, if you wish to make a financial contribution to the cost, please speak to the school office team for further advice.

We will be holding a parent meeting on Tuesday 16th May from 3:15pm to 3:45pm. This will be held with the class teachers and LSA’s attending Folly Farm this year; Mrs Allsopp, Mr Hancock, Mrs Owen, Mrs James, Mrs Haberfield & Mrs Matthews.

Children are encouraged to attend with their parent(s) and hopefully we will be able to answer any questions you may have.

We are now in the process of compiling essential and dietary information for all the children attending. The links to these electronic forms are below and these need to be completed by Thursday 30th March 2023. Both forms must be completed for your child to be able to attend the residential trip.

Essential Information Form – https://forms.office.com/e/j8dHKSWk2z

Parental Agreement Form – https://forms.office.com/e/cgN3TuZ5TK

There is a kit list attached to this letter. Please do not buy new clothes or kit for the trip, most items can be obtained very cheaply from charity shops. Clothes and shoes get very muddy and dirty so ‘the older the better’. Please do not forget bedding, as this is not provided by Folly Farm.

If your child has a medical condition where medication will be required for the duration of the trip, please ensure you clearly state this on the essential information form.

Please remember all medication must be prescribed and dispensed, with all the original labels in place. When we receive the information we will contact parents directly to arrange for medical forms to be completed.

Folly Farm is located in Chew Magna, which is less than an hour’s coach journey. However, if you believe your child will require travel sickness tablets please state this in the medical conditions part of the form. We will contact parents directly regarding the administering of this medication.

If any child or parent has concerns over the arrangements, please speak to the school office team or your child’s class teacher asap to discuss your concerns.

We are really looking forward to this fabulous trip, we hope you are too!

With regards

The Year 3/4 team
