Year 4 St Briavels Residential Trip Update – IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Dear Parents/Carers,

As detailed in our previous letter dated 17th January 2024, we take the Year 4 children on a one night residential visit. This year we will be visiting St Briavels Castle in Gloucestershire from Thursday 13th to Friday 14th June 2024.

We are delighted that so many of the Year 4 children wish to join us for this exciting trip, with 37 children presently confirmed as attending. We understand that some of our children don’t wish to attend and the reasons for this are many and varied, but pleased be assured these children will have some of the usual staff members they are used to and will remain with the year 3 children for a great couple of days.

We can confirm the cost of the trip will be £103 per child and this will include coach fares, insurance, accommodation, food and drink and activities. We understand this is a large amount of money and we are offering the opportunity to pay by instalments between now and May.

We have allocated the fees to ParentPay for payment. To help spread the cost we have set an instalment plan as follows:

£30.00 due by 1st March 2024 (this is a non-refundable deposit)

£25.00 due by 31st March 2024

£25.00 due by 30th April 2024

£23.00 due by 31st May 2024

The full amount can be paid is you wish to do so and, if preferred, payments can be made from today.

We will be holding a parent meeting on Tuesday 14th May from 3:15pm to 3:45pm. This will be held with the class teachers and LSA’s attending the trip this year; Mrs Allsopp, Mrs Giblett, Mrs Owen, Mrs James, Mr Hancock & Mrs Matthews. Children are encouraged to attend with their parent(s) and hopefully we will be able to answer any questions you may have.

We are now in the process of compiling essential and dietary information for all the children attending. The links to these electronic forms are below and these need to be completed by Thursday 14th March 2024. Both forms must be completed for your child to be able to attend the residential trip.

Essential Information Form – https://forms.office.com/e/gXhgG0TrQx

Parental Agreement Form – https://forms.office.com/e/QQHsWJfqhC

There is a kit list at the end of this letter. Please do not buy new clothes or kit for the trip, most items can be obtained very cheaply from charity shops. Clothes and shoes will get dirty so ‘the older the better’. All bedding is provided.

If your child has a medical condition where medication will be required for the duration of the trip, please ensure you clearly state this on the essential information form.

Please remember all medication must be prescribed and dispensed, with all the original labels in place. When we receive the information, we will contact parents directly to arrange for medical forms to be completed.

St Briavels Castle is located in Lydney, which is approximately an hour and half coach journey. However, if you believe your child will require travel sickness tablets, please state this in the medical conditions part of the form. We will contact parents directly regarding the administering of this medication.

No medication will be accepted on the day of the trip unless it has been declared beforehand and the correct paperwork completed.

If any child or parent has concerns over the arrangements, please speak to the school office team or your child’s class teacher asap to discuss your concerns.

We are really looking forward to this fabulous trip, we hope you are too!

With regards

The Year 3/4 team

Pack everything into one holdall/small cabin sized suitcase. Children have to carry their belongings from the coach onto the site & are only away for ONE night. Ensure bags are clearly labelled with your child’s name.
