Year 6 Charterhouse Residential Trip
Dear Parents/Carers,
Thank you to all our Year 6 parents who returned the Microsoft form regarding their preferences for this year’s residential trip to Charterhouse. The majority of parents expressed a preference for the shorter trip (3 days, 2 nights) and we are pleased to confirm that Charterhouse have been able to accommodate this for us.
The residential trip will take place from Wednesday 20th May to Friday 22nd May 2026.
This will be our eleventh year of visiting Charterhouse camp with our Year 6 children and we believe it provides many benefits; enhancing their life skills and building their social and team building skills. We have secured a packed programme over the 3 days including gorge walking, archery, climbing, caving and much more. We are sure you will agree that your child will find the trip both enjoyable and enriching.
The Charterhouse facilities are overseen by Somerset County Council’s centre at Kilve Court. The site is situated in the Mendip Hills and we have sole occupancy during our stay.
We can now confirm the cost of the trip will be £275.00 per child and this will include coach fares, insurance, full board accommodation, food and drink, activities, and specialist equipment.
The cost of the trip has been broken down into a payment plan which is now available on MCAS. Full details are provided overleaf. To secure your child’s place a non-refundable deposit of £50 is required by 30th November 2025. The instalment dates must be adhered to (unless you choose to pay early). If at any time you have a concern about making payment on the dates shown, please contact the office team on office@uva.clf.uk and we will endeavour to assist you.
Failure to make payments by the dates shown may result in your child’s place being withdrawn.
If your child does not wish to attend Charterhouse, please email the school office by 30th November and do NOT sign up to the trip on MCAS.

MCAS Instructions
Firstly, please visit your child’s MCAS account and click on ‘Trips’ in the right-hand side margin. The trip should be displayed as shown below:

Click on the trip and the following box should appear:

Click on add deposit to basket (unless you wish to pay the full amount). A ‘consent request’ box will appear, please click that you give consent and the deposit amount will be added to your basket. Please visit ‘basket’ & make payment.

We hope parents will understand that should we not receive sufficient funds to cover the cost of the trip, we will have to cancel. The school has no provision to subsidise trips.
A parent meeting will be held on Tuesday 3rd February 2026 from 3:30pm to 4:00pm to discuss the final trip arrangements and answer any questions you may have. Please add this date to your diary.
We hope this will be a thoroughly enjoyable trip for the children and we are looking forward to it.
