Year 6 Leavers Activities

Dear Parents/Carers,

Tomorrow, Friday, our Year 6 cohort will start their leavers activities.

Can Year 6 children please wear PE kits tomorrow. This should be in line with normal school uniform requirements, white T-shirt (no football tops) & black or navy shorts & trainers. They can wear their navy hoodies, but please emphasise to your child that this should be removed during the activities due to the extreme heat we are experiencing at the moment.

On Monday (20th) the Year 6 children will participate in Yr6 leavers assembly rehearsals until breaktime. From breaktime until the end of the day the cohort will be split into two groups and will take part in activities on the beach & on Uphill hill. Again, all children will need to wear PE kit for the day and will require a packed lunch.

On both days children will need to have suntan lotion applied before they come to school & should have a sunhat with them.

On Monday (20th) we will hold the Yr6 Leavers Party, 6pm-7pm. Please ensure you have completed the microsoft form before tomorrow evening.

On Tuesday (21st) we will hold our Yr6 Leavers Assembly. Parents are welcome (2 seats per child) to join us from 9:00am-9:30am. There will be no admittance on the day so please book your seats via MCAS. Children should wear full school uniform, including their royal blue jumper, not their navy leavers hoodie, as this is a formal event to celebrate the end of primary school.

From 9:30am-10:00am parents are welcome to stay & enjoy a cup of tea/coffee with children and the class teachers. At this time Yr6 children are welcome to participate in ‘T-shirt signing’. Please ensure your child has a white polo shirt/T-shirt with them for signing. They will NOT be allowed to sign the shirt they are wearing.

At 11am the traditional ice cream van will visit & the children & teachers will share a whippy ice cream (fab in this heat!) on the field free of charge thanks to our PTFA.

We know our children will be really excited about these events, which are a great privilege for those about to transition to secondary school. We are really proud of them & want to celebrate this with every Year 6 child. Please remind your child that participation is dependent on great behaviour and the following of instructions – these events are dependent on these rules; but we know they are really keen to take part.

Children should be collected from school at the usual time of 3:15pm from the front playground.

We have helped to nurture, care and develop your child over the last seven years; they are part of the Uphill family. We want to ensure their last few days are joyful & memorable. We look forward to sharing these last few days with them all.
