Year 6 SATs 2023

Year 6 SATs

Dear parents/carers,

We are working hard in preparation for Y6 SATs which are week commencing Tuesday 9th May 2023, following the Bank Holiday for the King’s Coronation on Monday 8th May.

Please find below the timetable for your child’s tests during that week:

Tuesday 9th May 2023

English grammar, punctuation and spelling (GPS)

Paper 1 (questions), Paper 2 (spelling)

Wednesday 10th May 2023

English reading paper

Thursday 11th May 2023

Mathematics

Paper 1 (arithmetic), Paper 2 (reasoning)

Friday 12th May

Mathematics

Paper 3 (reasoning)

We would like to recommend that you aim for your child to have a fairly restful weekend prior to SATs (no late-night sleepovers!) and as much sleep as possible on the Monday night, because the week can be intense.

It is ESSENTIAL that your child comes to school every day of SATs week in order to complete all their tests.  To help support your child, we would like them to arrive at school each day (Tuesday-Friday) between 8:00and 8:15am and go to Pegasus classroom, where we will provide a breakfast free of charge.

Not only does this give everyone the energy they need but it also calms any nerves and ensures that all children are here in plenty of time: some tests need to start BEFORE 9:00am.

We want your child to be the most successful they can be in preparation for their move to secondary school later in the year so ask that you ensure they carry out some daily revision/practice over the Easter holidays.

All children have been given “Ten in Ten” booklets for maths, grammar and reading comprehension to bring home today.  The idea is that they spend 10 mins over ten days practising their maths or English skills, so they don’t forget it all over the holidays!

Thank you in advance for your support.
