Yr 4 St Briavels Payments Forms & Kit List

Dear Parents/Carers,

As detailed in our previous letter dated 26th March 2026, we are taking the Year 4 children on a one-night residential visit to St Briavels Castle in Gloucestershire on Thursday 16th & Friday 17th July 2026.

We are delighted that so many of the Year 4 children wish to join us for this exciting trip, with 39 children presently confirmed as attending. We understand that some of our children don’t wish to attend and the reasons for this are many and varied, but pleased be assured these children will remain with the Year 3 children for a great couple of days, with familiar staff members.

The confirmed cost of the trip will be £122 per child, this cost includes coach fares, insurance, accommodation, food, drink and activities. Thank you to everyone for paying their £30 deposit payment. Below is the payment plan which should be adhered to.

£30.00 due by 30th April 2026 (This shows on MCAS as ‘Deposit’ even though it is an instalment)

£30.00 due by 30th May 2026

£32.00 due by 30th June 2026

If you do not keep up with the payment plan above, your child’s place on the trip may be withdrawn and any monies paid will not be refunded.

If your child is entitled to benefit related free school meals, the cost of the accommodation & food will be met by the school. Your individual payment plan on MCAS has been amended to reflect this.

Forms

We are now in the process of compiling personal information for the children attending. Please use the links to complete the necessary forms by Thursday 21st May 2026.

Medication

If your child has a medical condition where medication will be required during the trip, please ensure you clearly state this on the essential information form.

Please remember medication should, in the main, be prescribed and dispensed, and be in the original labels and boxes. When we receive the information, we will contact parents directly to arrange for medical forms to be completed.

St Briavels Castle is located in Lydney, which is approximately an hour and half coach journey. If you believe your child will require travel sickness tablets, please state this in the medical conditions part of the form. We will contact parents directly regarding the administering of this medication.

No medication will be accepted on the day of the trip unless it has been declared beforehand and the correct paperwork completed.

Sandwich Order Form

On Friday 17th, St Briavels will provide the children with a packed lunch. This will consist of a sandwich, bag of crisps, biscuit bar and a piece of fruit.

There are three options for sandwiches available, and we would like children to choose their sandwich filling to ensure they are happy with their lunch on the day.

Choices are:

  • Cheese on white bread
  • Ham on white bread
  • Tuna mayonnaise on white bread

Sandwiches will be ordered in advance of the trip and once you have placed your order, this cannot be changed, so please select carefully and ensure your child is made aware of the choice. A refillable water bottle will be required throughout the trip.

What to Bring

There is a kit list at the end of this letter. Please do not buy new clothes or kit for the trip, most items can be obtained very cheaply from charity shops. Clothes and shoes will get dirty so ‘the older the better’. All bedding is provided.

Please ensure you have completed all three forms within this letter to ensure your child can attend the trip.

We are really looking forward to this fabulous trip, we hope you are too!

With regards

The Year 3/4 team

Kit List – St Briavels Residential 2026

It is a good idea if your child helps you do the packing, so that they can hopefully recognise their own belongings. You could also include a list of items to aid packing on the day we return.

Pack everything into one holdall/small suitcase. Children have to carry their belongings from the coach onto the site & are only away for ONE night, so please pack lightly! Ensure bags are clearly labelled with your child’s name.
