Pupils at Uphill Village Academy explore programming and algorithms

Uphill Village Academy is developing the computer scientists of tomorrow as Year 2 pupils dive into the exciting world of programming and algorithms.

Through hands-on learning activities, pupils are discovering how the order of instructions can directly impact the outcome—a basic concept in coding.

As part of their lessons, pupils worked with Bee-Bots, a fun and interactive way to explore programming. Using arrow commands, they predicted the path the Bee-Bots would take and tested their instructions to see if their predictions were accurate.

This engaging approach develops problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and teamwork among pupils.

A spokesperson for the academy said: “We are thrilled to see our pupils embracing these essential 21st-century skills at such a young age.

“By using Bee-Bots, they are not only learning about algorithms and coding but also developing confidence in their ability to think logically and creatively.

“It’s wonderful to see their excitement as they test their ideas and refine their understanding.”

Uphill Village Academy remains committed to providing innovative and engaging learning opportunities that prepare pupils for a rapidly changing digital world.
