Pupils learn about the Great Fire of London
History came alive at Uphill Primary Academy as Year 2 pupils were transported back in time to 1666 by an unexpected visitor – Jethro, the servant of renowned diarist Samuel Pepys.
The visitor helped pupils discover what London was like 357 years ago. Jethro shared the harrowing tale of how the Great Fire of London began, how the fire quickly spread because the houses were made of wood and thatch, and then how the fire was eventually extinguished.
