What a fantastic start to the year it has been for PE and sport at Uphill!
Year 5/6 Street Cricket
This term, our Year 5 and 6 pupils had the exciting opportunity to take part in Street Cricket sessions delivered by Somerset Cricket. The children thoroughly enjoyed developing their batting, bowling and fielding skills through fun and engaging activities. The sessions were a huge success and children are encouraged to carry on these free sessions outside of school! See below or ask us for details.
Gold School Games Mark Award
We are incredibly proud that we have been awarded the Gold School Games Mark for the third consecutive year. This achievement recognises our commitment to providing high-quality PE, school sport and physical activity opportunities for all pupils.
Let’s move!
Did you know, over half of children aged 7-11 in England aren’t reaching the NHS’s recommendation of 60 minutes of physical activity a day? That’s why this term, we’re taking part in Let’s Move!, using fun 10-minute activities in school to help pupils stay active, focused and ready to learn. The campaign theme, The New Moves Club, is all about encouraging families to give something new a go together. So, we’re inviting you to continue the fun at home!

Term 1 PE lessons
EYFS/Year have enjoyed going on a ‘bike adventure’ this term to practise their footwork! They have used this to focus on their footwork, practising moving side to side and changing direction.
Year 2 have been developing their feet ball skills in their PE lessons this term. They have learning to dribble, pass and defend successfully.
Year 3/4 have been doing tag rugby in their outdoor PE this term. Voyager class have enjoyed their swimming lessons and have been fantastic!
Year 5/6 this term have been enjoying hockey in their outdoor PE lessons! They have been focusing on dribbling and changing direction and then applying these into a game situation.
