EYFS & Year 1 School Nurse Vision Checks

5th March 2021

Vision Screening Reception and catch up programme of Year 1 children

Dear EYFS & Year 1 Parents,

The School Nursing Team, in line with NHS guidance, conduct vision screening for all children during their first year at school. However due to the Covid-19 restrictions they were unable to complete this in the last academic year. Therefore alongside the planned vision programme for this year for EYFS children, they will be offering a vision screening catch up programme for Year 1 children who were not screened.

This is planned to take place at some point in April or May.

 COVID-19

The Vision Screening provider for our area, Sirona Care and Health, will carry out the screening at the school following government advice that aligns with national and local Covid-19 guidance for schools and infection control. Considerations and adjustments have been made to carry out the screening within the altered school environment with respect to class groups and minimising the number of school visits required.

Attached to this email is a vision screening opt out form that should be returned directly to the school nursing team via email. Please ensure you read this form carefully.

If you have any queries regarding the vision screening or for specific Covid-19 questions, please contact the school nursing service on 01934 419339.

With regards
