Week 6 What a lovely last week of term 3! This week in phonics Year 1 have been recapping sounds: u-e (June, cube) and EYFS ai, ee, igh and oa. We have also been doing lots of sight word practise!

Week 5 As Historians this week we have enjoyed looking at the different houses in Uphill. We looked at a modern house and compared it to the house with the thatched roof by the church. We then looked at what kinds of jobs people living in Uphill used

Week 4 This week was national bird watch week and we loved going out to the field with our binoculars to see what we could see. As Historian we have enjoyed looking at Uphill school 150 years booklet produced last year and photos of Uphill school

Week 3 This week we have been finding out about the Lunar new year. We have watched some videos to see where and how the Lunar year is celebrated. We have then enjoyed creating lanterns, learning to use chopsticks and having a go at writing in Chinese!

Week 2 What a lovely week! Rainbow Class started their week off with a lovely History walk around the village to begin our new enquiry ‘How has Uphill changed through time?’. We looked at the church, walked through the woods and beach and then finished off

Week 1 Welcome back! We have been busy settling back in after a lovely Christmas break. This week we have been recapping and learning new sounds in phonics. Year 1 are recapping new \phase 5 sounds and EYFS have learnt some new trigraphs- ‘air’ and ‘ear’.

Week 6 A lovely Christmassy week! This week was our nativity performances and we had so much fun performing to all of our grown ups. The children showed so much courage and were brilliant. In phonics we have learnt some more new sounds. EYFS

Week 5 What a lovely week! In Maths this week Year 1 have been looking at teen numbers and making them with different resources. As writers this week we enjoyed writing letters to Santa! We looked at the features of a letter and recapped
